The Architecture of Night

The Architecture of Night is a sculptural painting utilizing a graphic, minimalist visual language to breakdown a nocturnal landscape into its core geometric components: land, trees, sky, and a dominant supermoon.

By building the composition through distinct three dimensional layers, the traditional flat plane of a painting transforms into a sculptural relief. The land and trees project the furthest into the viewers space, establishing a tangible grounding of the piece. The deep blue sky is contrasted by the warm glow of a massive golden moon on the horizon. Through sharp, clean edges and defined spacial depth, the artwork takes on an architectural quality that is accentuated by light and shadow.
